T2 Domestic Terminal Upgrades

T2 Check-in v2

The T2 Domestic terminal is undergoing a $200 million redevelopment — the first major upgrade in over 30 years at Australia’s busiest terminal.

These improvements will deliver a smoother, faster experience for travellers, with new security and check-in areas designed to get passengers from kerb to gate in 15 minutes.

While the redevelopment is underway, the airport journey may look a little different. Additional staff will be on hand to assist and guide passengers.

To ensure a smooth trip, we recommend arriving at least one hour before departure if travelling with hand luggage and two hours before departure if checking in bags. Where possible, check in online to save time.

Thank you for your patience as we create a better travel experience for all passengers.

What are the benefits?

New self-service check-in kiosks and advanced bag drop systems have increased baggage processing capacity by 300 bags per hour. Next-generation security technology and state-of-the-art scanners now allow you to leave laptops and aerosols in your hand luggage, while almost doubling the capacity of each security lane from 235 to 500 passengers per hour.

The upgrade of T2 will be completed by the end of 2026.

What airlines will be in T2 and T3?
