Sydney Airport Litter: Guide Dogs Graduation

Sydney Airport is proud to share an exciting update on the five puppies from our 2023 Christmas Charity Campaign, raised and trained through a partnership with Guide Dogs.

This partnership is just one of the ways Sydney Airport is committed to removing barriers to make it easier for passengers with accessibility needs to travel.

James

The Sydney Airport litter

Born as a litter of five: Syd, Aero, Kingsford, Pax and Amelia, each puppy has now graduated into an important working role, reflecting the diverse career pathways Guide Dogs undertake.

Just like humans, there are plenty of career options open to Guide Dogs puppies. Their pathways vary widely based on temperament, aptitude and individual preference. As Guide Dogs trainers emphasise, each dog selected their own career.

Some dogs thrive in the structure of guiding, others excel in therapy and emotional-support settings, while some demonstrate the exceptional genetics, temperament and health needed for the Guide Dogs breeding program.

Aero

Aero graduated Guide Dog training at the top of her class in June 2025 and seamlessly transitioned into client-specific training before being officially placed with her handler in Sydney in September 2025. Aero has embraced her guiding role with enthusiasm and has even bonded closely with her handler’s retired Guide Dog who still lives with the handler.

amelia

Amelia

Amelia graduated as a Therapy Dog in July 2025 and now supports a Child Psychologist in regional NSW. Her calm, gentle temperament makes her a favourite among young people who benefit from therapeutic animal interaction.

Kingsford

Kingsford

Kingsford progressed into the Guide Dogs breeding program after demonstrating outstanding temperament, obedience, hip and eye scoring, and structural soundness. Since June 2025, he has sired three litters and 15 puppies in total! Many of these puppies have already begun their Guide Dog puppy training. Kingsford’s most recent litter, nicknamed the J Litter (Jason, James, Joseph and Java) were born in December 2025 and are now around just one month old.

Pax

Pax

Pax graduated as a Therapy Dog in September 2025, supporting a young girl with Autism Spectrum Disorder. His presence has created a noticeable and positive change in her daily life and confidence.

syd

Syd

Syd, whose full Guide Dogs journey was sponsored by Sydney Airport with a $50,000 contribution, graduated as a Therapy Dog in May 2025. He now supports a young person with Autism Spectrum Disorder and is best known for his love of cuddles, affection and emotional connection.
